Out of School

- Gold Awards for the January-March term were earned by 92 Merkinch Primary pupils. To warrant a Gold Award, pupils have to earn 95% or more points at work and play.
- Besides the departure of Mrs Clunas, Easter saw the retirement of Mrs MacCrimmon who has been at MPS for the last six years. P1 SM, P1 K and P2 M put on a concert to wish her all the best.
- Four members of the Garden Club, which meets on Tuesday afternoons, went to Howdens with Mrs Moffat and Mrs Bennett to buy seeds for the garden. When the manager heard about the project he donated a big bag of compost to help things get growing.
- Pupils in P1 to P6 enjoyed fun dance sessions with Andy McKechnie of Jamming Fitness at the end of April, and on 1st May there was an Open Afternoon for parents to see round the classrooms.
- The Sports Coaching Club for P7 pupils is on Mondays. Last term members learned to play volleyball and the term ended with a volleyball tournament for pupils and staff. This term coaches Becky and Martin are introducing members to badminton.
- All schools will be on holiday on Monday 3rd June to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Thursday 4th July sees the schools close for the summer holidays, reopening on Tuesday 20th August.
- Merkinch Primary School Board are conducting a survey this month into what parents feel about absenteeism and what they think can be done to improve attendance figures at the school.
