JESSIE Buchan, Merkinch’s world-beating blind bowler, came home last month from the International Paralympics in Adelaide, Australia, with a Silver Medal in her category in the World Bowls Ladies Singles championships. This brings Jessie’s current Blind Bowling titles to four, the other three being Scottish and British Singles champion, and World Pairs champion. This was the first time Jessie had competed in the Paralympics. Altogether 11 countries took part in the two-week event and Britain fielded a 22-strong team. Jessie is pictured right with her director and companion Ron Crater. It seems romance blossomed in Oz for Jessie and Ron, for this summer we hear she is moving from Cameron Square to Forfar where he lives.
