Community Council AGM

HIGHLIGHTS of the last year in Merkinch were recalled at the AGM of the Community Council which took place on 14th May. Guest speakers during the year had included Karen Thomson of the Community Economic Development programme and members of Victim Support. The effective policing which had caused crime figures to drop and detection rates rise was noted and the success of various local projects and events. Among these was the celebration of the Council’s 25th anniversary in the Community Centre. During the year chairman Ally Maclean had resigned and Clair Pieraccini had taken over from him; Dell McClurg was appointed vice-chair. They were reappointed. A letter from former member Donnie Kerr was read and noted.
It was agreed to contribute £20 towards the function marking Doreen McDougall’s 33 years at Forbes Pharmacy.
