MERKINCH’S two councillors are back in harness, following the May elections, and busier than ever. At the first meeting of the Inverness Area Committee on 26th May, Councillor Chrissie Cumming was elected chairman of the Area’s Social Work & Housing committee.

Previously she chaired the Area’s Social Work committee before it was amalgamated with Housing. Councillor Peter Corbett was given the Sports Portfolio. Both were chosen to go on the Police Committee earlier in the month. The two councillors are committed to working closely together for the benefit of Merkinch. For a start they are to hold their surgeries at the same time at Merkinch Community Centre - the first Monday of the month, between 5pm and 7pm.
