THINGS are fairly moving on in the Janny’s Hoose. Building work has now commenced and we are hopeful that we should be ready to open in September. There is now a phone line for you to contact Jean at the Janny’s Hoose - it is 226348. We should love to hear from you.

We have started some activities and those who have come along have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We have a parent support group running on Tuesday mornings in the school - this is a nice informal session for parents to discuss the things that are important to them and to give each other help and support.

A group of us went walking up the river to the Ness Islands and stopped at the Hospice coffee shop for tea and baking on the way back. It was a glorious day and we had a lovely time spotting seals and ducks in the river and having a good blether as we went. The next walk will be on 12 June, starting from Merkinch Community Centre at about 10am. Distance travelled is according to the needs of the group on the day, and the weather. It is not so much a taxing walk for those who are super fit, but more a gentle ramble for those who want to have a good time.

We will be holding a health fayre on Monday 23 June between 9 and 10.45am in the school hall where you can all come and try out the types of activities that will be available at the Janny’s Hoose. So far we have Tai Chi, head and hand massage and lots of displays. There will also be lots of different nibbles to try out and freebies galore. Included will be plenty of opportunities for you to influence the development of the Janny’s Hoose and the services that it will provide. There will be ideas aplenty to help you improve your health.
Come along and enter our free prize draw - if you’re not in it you won’t win it. See you there,
Jean Mackay
