S4/S5 pupils at Inverness High who aim to return to school next session are asked to report to the Assembly Hall on Monday 9th June at 1.30pm. All books and materials from this session should be returned at this time. Those who are leaving school this summer can complete Leaving Forms - obtainable from the school office - after their last examinations.
A RECENT H.M. Inspectors’ report on Inverness High caused a battle between the local press and Rector RR Cunningham. Mr Cunningham felt that the few less than positive aspects of the report had been stressed but could not get the paper to admit their report was not fairly balanced.
So he took out an advertisement to publish a fuller account, mentioning the many positive comments of the Inspectors. This in turn raised the question of who had paid for the ad. But Mr Cunningham was able to reassure parents that it had not come out of the school’s budget.
This is not the first time the press has been accused of “dramatising” such reports.
A couple of years ago Fliperz nursery and day care centre was driven to question the balance of an HMI report on them that appeared in an Aberdeen-based daily. The paper subsequently apologised - but not in print!
MERKINCH Primary is holding its school sports on 11th and 18th June - weather permitting! The youngsters of P4 to P7 will be on the earlier date and P1 to P3 on the other.
A REMINDER that anyone who has Tesco vouchers for Computers in Schools should hand them in to MPS as soon as possible.
THE garden at MPS is growing from strength to strength - next time you are walking along Telford Road take a look over the wall and see for yourself.
P6/P7 pupils who are members of the Garden Club meet on Tuesdays from 3-4pm. Other after-school activities include P7 volleyball coaching on Mondays and shinty coaching on Thursdays.
SCHOOLS close for the summer holidays on Thursday 3rd July and re-open on Tuesday 19th August.
