Mr George Pyke

A well-kent footballer, who was a trainer at Clach football club from 1964-1966, has died at the age of 87. But most of George Pyke’s footballing days were spent at Thistle, as a player and trainer.
During World War II, he served in North Africa, Sicily and France and ended the war as Regimental Sergeant Major. He then worked for British Rail for 35 years before he retired. Predeceased by his wife Betty, he is survived by son Donald and three grandchildren.
