POPULAR and much respected local taxi driver, Donald McPhee, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home in Craigton Avenue on 29th April at the age of 60.
Born and brought up in Caithness, Mr McPhee - commonly known as “Willie” - spent most of his working life behind the wheel. He started as a coal lorry driver then operated his own fuel-delivery wagon. He set up in the less strenuous occupation of taxi-driving several years ago when he was diagnosed with diabetes.
Mr McPhee leaves a widow, Jemima, a daughter, Margaret, and son, Donald junior, plus eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The sympathy of the community goes out to all his family.
