UISDEAN’S A HIGH FLIER

Uisdean MacRae

Merkinch man, Uisdean MacRae brought home the 25 metre Gold Medal after winning the Highland Swimming Gala for the Disabled which took place at the Inverness Aquadome on March 17th, with just 41.75 seconds on the clock. And as if this isn’t champion enough, Uisdean, who lives in Nelson Street and has competed at many high level events over the last few years, also went on to win, with this team, the trophy and plaque at the Rollerbowl Charity Do on 9th May. The charity event organised by Voluntary Action to help raise money for a number of different causes saw Uisdean’s four member Highland team triumph with a score of 1900 points, bringing home the Roy Holmes Shield. The most recent triumph for Uisdean took place in Glasgow, 15 May, when Uisdean and the fifteen strong wheelchair dancing team, The Highland Flyers, took part in the annual Scottish Wheelchair Competition. Judging was fierce and only two teams got through to the finals, one of them, of course, The Highland Flyers, and the team done us proud, carrying home 8 trophies,18 gold, 17 silver and 3 bronze medals. Not bad going. Well done Uisdean and the Highland Flyers.
