THE campaign to remove unsightly vehicles that have been abandoned in the Merkinch is proving successful. As we went to press Highland Council’s protective services department tell us a total of 25 vehicles have been removed since the current drive started in October.

REGULAR bus travellers will welcome the introduction of cheaper fares on Stagecoach town buses. The Weekly Rover ticket, which used to cost £8, is being replaced by the Megarider ticket costing £6.50. The daily ticket is £2 and the child’s weekly Megarider will be £4. The summer timetables are out and some bus times have been tweaked a little, so best to check.

THE Social Inclusion Project hopes to be into its new premises – the former laundry in Grant Street – and open for business by the end of March.

THE Merkinch Working Partnership of councillors and local authority chiefs is to be revived after being in abeyance for some time, it was learned as we went to press.
