BIRNIE Terrace residents have recently seen their area re-lamped and re-tarred, and now they hope to have their homes re-wired and new kitchens put in.

But what they do not want are CCTV cameras – even though the nearby former Catherwood site on Carse Road has caused them problems in the past.

The site has now been taken over by Alexander Developments, members of Merkinch Community Council heard at their latest meeting, so the residents expect it will be tidied up.

Nearby Glendoe Terrace residents have found that  CCTV has cut down on vandalism and fly-tipping. Vandal-proof fencing had been installed and the area was enjoying on-going improvements.

A newly-formed residents’ association in Ord Terrace was also said to be very enthusiastic and positive.
