ONCE again Merkinch youngsters have had a highly successful campaign in the Inverness Youth Clubs annual sports competition.

Draughts, chess, junior quiz, junior boys’ badminton, and team pool – both boys and girls – were won by the local kids at the competition which was held in Inverness Sports Centre over four Sundays last month.

Indeed they would probably have won even more titles if there had been any competition for the seniors, we are told! Last year the Merkinch crew also made a virtual clean sweep at Inverness level.

Now they go on to the Highland finals at the same venue on 24th March and hopefully some will win through to the Scottish finals in Perth later in the year.
