LOLLIPOP man at Merkinch for the last 11 years has been Willie Maclean (above). In recent years, though, the doughty pensioner, who will be 82 in April, has been suffering from ill-health and finally he decided to retire. He was presented with crystal glasses, some malt whisky to put in them and an engraved water jug. The children also showered their “poppy” with cards and good wishes for his retirement.
