Charity Race Night

SATURDAY 6th May sees a lively charity Race Night at the Clach Social Club, doors open 6.30pm. Merkinch Traders are organising the event in aid of the proposed MacMillan Cancer Relief facility at Raigmore Hospital. The project, which is to cost an estimated £1.6 million, will see an extra two Macmillan Nurses at the state-of-the-art chemotherapy centre.

Work is likely to begin next year with the hope it will open in the autumn – one in three are likely to be affected by cancer in their life, so this project will benefit all.

Among the sponsors of the race night, which promises to be lots of fun, are: Merkinch Enterprise; George Rogers, newsagents and general store; Charlie's Chip Shop; Dave MacDonald, newsagents; Clach Football Club; Forbes Pharmacy; Clach Shoe Repair Shop; and Thornbush Laundry.

Following the racing, Inverness Disco will play the night away. A second Race Night is being contemplated later in the year because of the generous response of local businesses, not all of whom could be accommodated on this occasion.
