OVER 50 children registered for the Merkinch Community Centre Playscheme, which was held over the Easter holidays, and on any one day there was an average of 30 or 40 enjoying a wide range of good-fun activities.
These included much baking of cakes and shepherd’s pie, music from Sona Coated, exercise with Andy Mackenzie’s Jammin’ Fitness and an assault course organised by Bruce Fowling.
On the last day excitement reached fever pitch with party games, a bouncy castle and various competitions which were judged by Community Police Alisdair Stewart and Norman Campbell.
Winners were: Easter Bonnets - 8 and under, Nicole Urquhart; 9 and over, Rachel Berg. Hunt the Egg - 8 and under, Kirsty Hardy; 9 and over, Ali Urquhart. Painted Eggs - 8 and under, Alistair Hardy; 9 and over, Louise Vanzetta.
The scheme ran for four afternoons each week of the holidays, and support for the playleaders was good. It is likely that the Playscheme will take place again over four weeks in the summer holidays.
