Walking your way into good health

EXERCISE shouldn’t be a bore, and it shouldn’t need special equipment or clothing. Well now it isn’t and it doesn’t.
There will be a walk on Thursday May 15 starting at 10.10am and back in plenty of time to collect children from Nursery and Building Blocks.
It’s a chance for a nice gentle stroll with good company, and a cuppa provided somewhere along the route. It will be designed specially for the beginner, and is open to all. We will set off from the Community Centre.
All you need is comfortable clothes and shoes, and a jacket in case it rains. You don’t need to book, just turn up. If you want to know more, get in touch with Jean.
We hope to make this walk a regular feature of the Janny’s Hoose, and are looking for volunteers to help plan and lead the walks. Training will be given.

Time Out for parents

We are running a series of five sessions called “Time out for parents”.
These will look at the needs of children (and parents!), helping your children feel good about themselves, dealing with difficult behaviour, keeping safe and problem solving.
The sessions will be friendly and informal and will help you find out what works for you.
Still not sure whether this is for you? We are holding a “taster” session on Tuesday 6 May between 10 and 11.45am.
This will be an opportunity for you to find out what the sessions are about. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. The five sessions will take place weekly after the taster session. More details and bookings to Jean, at Merkinch Primary School, telephone 07787750742.

Work starts at Janny’s Hoose

AS we went to press work was due to start any day on converting the former janitor's house at Merkinch Primary School into a well-being centre. Safety is paramount, while this work is going on, and barriers have been erected to keep the children away from the working area. This entails the entrance adjacent to the building being used ONLY FOR VEHICLES. Pedestrians delivering children to the school are requested to use the other gates, at the southern end of the school.
