IF YOU have a warm heart, a large teapot and a downstairs loo, you might enjoy joining the network, “Contact the Elderly”, as a host/hostess.
This involves receiving a small group of over-70s for Sunday afternoon tea, perhaps once or twice a year. Voluntary drivers, who have a clean driving licence and safety belts, will bring the visitors to your home; they usually are asked to help once a month.
Loneliness is often the curse of the elderly, especially those who cannot get about so well. Monthly outings to a range of hosts does their confidence and general quality of life a great deal of good. Anyone interested in being a host or a driver can contact the local organiser, Alan Michael, on Inverness 798008 or 790410.
