Call for stitch-in-time maintenance

BETTER day-to-day maintenance is what council tenants in the Benula Road area want to see, instead of things being left until they involve major repairs.
At their well-attended meeting on 9th October, the Benula Road & Kilmuir Court/Road Tenants Association again listed pavements, fences, doors, and cars not to mention noisy neighbours, that all needed attention.

A major point for discussion was the operation of the CCTV cameras that had been installed.
Members wanted to know about the level of monitoring and what their effectiveness was. They were told that while all the cameras were connected they were expensive to run because they operated over an internet line. Residents heard that tapes had already been provided for evidence.
But it was stressed that cameras alone could not cut down on crime and annoyance (the previous weekend there had been around 30 youths in the park). Concerned residents were advised that if there was a disturbance they should call the concierge on 709813.
Members noted with disappointment that once again there had been no-one from the Northern Constabulary present.

The next meeting is the AGM on 13th November.
