As from 5th November, the price of school meals at Inverness High is rising to £1.40.

If High School pupils suddenly seem a lot better focused these days it could be down to a fresh supply of H2O. The new chilled water dispenser in the school vestibule is said to be very well used, and research has shown that drinking lots of water is good for concentration.

On 12th October a number of up-for-it teachers agreed to be “gunged” for charity. Ten per cent of the money raised goes towards the Highland Hospice. The same cause benefited from the annual sponsored walk - see pupil’s letter on page 3.

Best wishes for a long and happy retirement go to two members of staff: Mr Stevenson, Principal Teacher of Physics, who retired after 29 years’ service to the school and Mrs Tasker, Reprographics Technician who retired in October after 28 years at the school.

Also for the off is Mr Speirs, who returns to Charleston Academy after a two-year secondment to the High School.

A Parents’ Evening for S1 pupils is being held on Thursday 1st November and for S5/6 pupils on Wednesday the 14th. The school will be closed on Monday 19th November for an in-service training day.
