THE Active Adults’ weekend outing to Pitlochry at the beginning of October was a great success with a packed programme of outings and activities. One of the highlights was a visit to the crannog at Aberfeldy. This is a reconstruction of a loch dwelling that was very common in early Scotland - in the Beauly Firth it is still possible to see the remains of some at low tide.
The Crannog Centre at Aberfeldy is fascinating to young and old alike and the Active Adults thoroughly enjoyed this unusual outing.
The group also sampled the town’s cultural opportunities, visiting Pitlochry’s Festival theatre to see the play “Amadeus”, which most people enjoyed. The other evenings the group amused themselves, dancing and socialising.
On the way home the Active Adults went up Cairngorm in the funicular railway.
“It was a laugh from from when we left the Community Centre until we got back,” one of the party told News & Views.

THE Active Adults is a happy, friendly group which meets on Tuesday afternoons and new members are always welcome. Last month their programme included a talk by Primula Grant on “Using Herbs”, and outings to Fort George and the Highland Folk Museum.
In November the programme is as follows: 5th - Mhairi discussing “Infectious Diseases”, Rollerbowl and possibly Archery. On the subject of Rollerbowl, the Merkinchers won the quarterly pan-Inverness Over-50s Rollerbowl Challenge on 1st October - again! Ever since the team first took up 10-pin bowling they have proved extremely successful beating more experienced players on numerous occasions. Congratulations!
