Busy as bees - the youngsters who took part in October’s Playscheme at Merkinch Community Centre stripped quite a few willows in creating some beautiful and imaginative seasonal decorations.
THIS October holidays Merkinch Community Centre ran a highly successful Playscheme four afternoons a week. One of the activities the youngsters enjoyed was making stars, suns and lanterns from willow, paste and paper. These will be used at the Council’s Bonfire Night Parade. They also created a spectacular phoenix of the same materials to put atop the bonfire.

On the last day of the Playscheme the youngsters had a Hallowe’en party - they made the decorations for that too. The Playscheme has a new committee with Alison Berg as chair. “Thirty children were able to come to the Playscheme this October. With more volunteers we could take even more,” she said.
It is hoped to run playscheme sessions over the Easter holidays and anyone interested can contact the Centre.
