THE Merkinch Arms public house on the corner of Grant Street and Lochalsh Road reopened on 25th October after losing its licence around two years ago. New proprietor is Glasgow-based Colin Robertson and the manager is Karen Mackenzie who was previously supervisor. The new management aims to rename the pub - reverting back to its former title, The Lochiel. Miss Mackenzie told News & Views that all customers, old and new, would be warmly welcomed. It is also hoped that they can start up the pool team again this winter.
