HIGHLAND Council’s Trading Standards and Northern Constabulary have joined forces to help contain the irresponsible and dangerous use of fireworks that so often marks this time of year. The combination of dark evenings, Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night along with too-easy access to fireworks can make life a misery for some people, particularly young children and the elderly, as well as pet animals.
Youngsters are urged to go along to properly organised bonfire events where safety procedures are followed, and parents are asked to impress on their children the real risk of injury that fireworks can cause and ensure they realise the dangers involved.
