HAVE you ever felt you would like to do something for others, for the community at large? Then this is your chance, as nominations are currently being invited for the election of 16 community councillors to Merkinch Community Council.
Any elector whose name appears, as at 1st September 2003, on the electoral register covering the Merkinch Community Council area, is entitled to stand for nomination.

Nomination papers are available from the returning officer, Brian MacLeod. C/o Merkinch Enterprise, 14 Grant Street. Nomination papers, duly completed and signed by eligible electors must be received by the returning officer no later than 5pm on Friday, 7th November. Withdrawals must be intimated in writing not later than 5pm, Monday 10th November. If more than 16 valid nominations are received, a postal ballot will take place to determine the successful candidates. If there are fewer than eight, no community council can be established.
