Corbett artists inspired by Monet

News from the Corbett Centre by Michael Bolster

Painting in the style of MonetTHE Painters and Painting group visited the Claude Monet exhibition in the Royal Scottish Academy art gallery in Edinburgh. This was enjoyed very much by the group and there was a good selection of work by this famous artist. Most of us bought guidebooks, postcards, posters and other souvenirs.

After this visit the group were inspired to pay their own homage to this famous impressionist and the results of their efforts can be seen in an exhibition in the Community Space in Inverness museum and Art Gallery.

The show, entitled simply “Tribute”, opened on 18th October and runs until the 15th November.

The paintings in this show were carried out at the upstairs classroom at art.tm’s premises in the Longman, under the helpful eye of Corbett Centre staff. The art group currently has around 10 members and this is their second show in the Community Space this year.

THE Corbett Centre’s anti-bullying project has been featured on the front page of the Inverness Courier and in its editorial column. On Wednesday 15th October, we visited BBC Scotland to record an item, and the programme was broadcast on Friday morning, 17th October.
