Out of School
This summer Merkinch Primary’s school garden really came into its own and members of the garden club had plenty of work to do. Pictured are some club members at work on the various flower, shrub and vegetable beds which were still blooming and looking good well into the autumn.
PUPILS in P4K have written to youngsters in Tanzania, hoping to get penpals from this fascinating African country.
- MPS children are being encouraged to join the Cubs (age 8-10 and a half) and Scouts (over 10 and a half) which meet in the Kenneth Street Halls on Tuesday (6.3-8.15pm) and Monday evenings (7-9pm), respectively.
- P6/7M HAS been very busy this session, with P6 going to swimming lessons on Friday mornings. (One youngster reported that they sing French songs on the bus to the Aquadome.) The class has been having a great time with Claire Crowle from Eden Court, and the children gave a presentation about the school garden.
- THE MPS recycling centre has now moved to the library. Still being collected are plastic ring can carriers, printer, copier or fax toner cartridges, outgrown school uniforms, PE shorts and t-shirts. The centre has previously owned sweat shirts, in sizes 3 to 8 years, and grey trousers to fit 3-7 years. The cost is just 50p per garment.
