LAST season’s A league champs Portland A and third-placed Uncle Bob’s both started with good wins but last year’s runners-up Portland C who have moved to the Beaufort Hotel lost to newly promoted Drouthy Duck in the first game in their new venue. In the B league the newly promoted teams Shots and Portland E met in the first game and it looked like the pattern from last year was going to be repeated when Shots went in to a 5-0 lead but Portland made a remarkable comeback to take a share of the points. Last year’s B runners-up Legion A and newly relegated Dows both started with full points. In the C League Clachnaharry Chieftain and newcomers Raigmore all started with wins.
