MERKINCH Breakfast Club is in full swing at the Community Centre with anything from 35 to 50 youngsters attending each day between 7.30 and 8.45am. Among activities, besides eating and tooth-brushing, are spacehoppers, jigsaws, drawing and ball games.

AFTER the October holidays it is hoped to start an after-school club for P4-P7 at the Community Centre as a pilot project. Volunteers are being sought to take part in the project which is being funded by the Child Care Partnership.

FAIRFIELD Medical Practice’s new premises in Abban Road were officially opened by Inverness MP David Stewart on 28th September.

TO clarify - on the matter of double yellow lines in Lochalsh Road, it apparently was not entirely clear in last month’s report that Merkinch Traders were not in favour of restoring the lines. However Jim Smith, who attended the meeting to talk in favour of not having yellow lines because of their effect on trade, had heard great concern expressed over the dangerous volume of traffic in the area, and conceded that safety was of prime importance.
