Giving criminals their scum-uppance

NORTHERN Constabulary actively supports Crimestoppers with its free and confidential telephone number 0800 555 111.

Anyone calling Crimestoppers has complete anonymity and their information is processed and forwarded to the relevant area where it is analysed against other intelligence and acted on if sufficient and appropriate. A reward scheme for information leading to the solving of crime and recovery of property or drugs is in operation.
It is not just the police that benefits from the Crimestopper scheme, but the community as a whole. In the Highlands and Islands this year some 115 pieces of information and intelligence has been received through Crimestoppers and this has led to numerous crimes being detected and property/drugs being recovered.

Operation Eagle, which sees police resources targeting specific crimes, has benefited from Crimestoppers, with much information being acted on.
The national Safer Scotland campaigns on violent crime and drugs which was carried out over the past year proved highly successful in the Highlands with many members of the public using Crimestoppers to give information anonymously. Year on year Northern Constabulary has proved to be the most efficient and most effective police force in the country with the lowest crime rates per head of population and the highest detection rate, making the Highlands and Islands the safest place to live in the UK.

“Northern Constabulary, like all police forces, could not operate without the tremendous co-operation from the general public,” said a spokesman. “We fully support Crimestoppers, so please give criminals their scum-uppance - ring Crimestoppers and cuff a criminal today.”
