MERKINCH Friendship Club, which generally meets for lunch on Wednesdays, is hoping for an Indian summer this month - for they have two outings before the worst of winter sets in.
On Thursday 11th they are to visit the Lochcarron Day Centre in Wester Ross - a lovely trip when all the leaves are turning. And on Wednesday 17th they are to visit the Waltzing Waters display at Newtonmore.
Other October meetings include: 3rd - sing-song and bingo, 10th - children from St Joseph’s Primary, 24th - bingo, and 31st - Reminiscing about the good old days. “Bring photographs,” says Elsie Normington who runs the club.
The Active Adults group who meet on Tuesday afternoons are going from strength to strength and membership is now up to 10.
After winning the inter-club Rollerbowl contest this summer, members have to defend their title on 2nd October and then face further competition at an inter-club quiz at Charleston Community Centre. On the 16th it’s back home to Merkinch for a session of Countdown, followed by Rollerbowl the following week.
Last month members tried their hand at Archery for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves - so much so that another three Archery sessions have been pencilled in between now and Christmas.
Active Adults is for people who want to get out and about doing interesting things they might never have done on their own - and all in good company!
