mp33...

Hi there!
It’s changes all round at mp33 this month as Cheryl Heggie has already left and now Gill Maclennan is going in mid-October. “After 20 months in the job I am very sad to be going, but I wish mp33 every success in the future,” Gill said. She is going to be a Key Worker with the Highland Careers Service working outreach from Dingwall. The good news is that Gill will still be keeping up her other interests in Merkinch until at least Christmas, at the Wednesday night Youth Club sessions at the Community Centre.

Cheryl has gone to be sales manager with Fitness First and temporarily filling her admin role in Grant Street is Nicky Robertshaw. At time of going to press discussions were on-going as to how to cover Gill’s role as Youth Development Worker at mp33.

Despite all these changes there’s still plenty going on at mp33, so drop in and see what’s doing...

On the pinboard...

THE Ante-Natal Clinic, which has been based at mp33 for some months, is back in the Community House in Craigton Avenue again, still on Thursday afternoons.

Remember Highland Brook is on Monday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm for all matters of sexual health advice.

THE Young Tenants drop-in days are Tuesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 4pm.

THE Employment Action Team is still available from every morning from Tuesday to Friday.

THERE is no Dolphin this month and no meetings of the Dolphin Group for the next few weeks while Graham is on holiday. Hopefully it will restart on 16 October.

Or if there is some other subject you think you might be interested in, come along and discuss it with Shirley. She is known by the title of Pathways to Inclusion Co-ordinator at Inverness College, and a chat with her could open up a pathway to your future.
So give her a ring at 273338 or drop in on a Tuesday afternoon and take the first step.

So, if you want to make your input and get into the driving seat, drop in and talk to Nicky or whoever is here at the time.

Heather Pirie

Prince’s Trust based at mp33

ANOTHER new arrival at mp33 is Heather Pirie, a trainee youth worker with the Prince’s Trust who has moved from Church Street to be based in Grant Street full time. Heather, who lives in Merkinch, has been with the Princes Trust for two years. One of her main jobs at the moment is developing the Highland Recharge free barge trips.
If you are aged 18 to 25, unemployed and bored, you can sign up for a week on the Caledonian Canal on board Fingal of Caledonia. This is a fully refitted and well equipped 1930s barge and while you are on the trip there will be a chance to go canoeing, mountain biking, rafting and orienteering. There are also short informal sessions on a wide range of employment and health issues. The Prince’s Trust - “Yes You Can” is their motto - also runs other courses, including one for those with a serious interest in the music business. Heather can be contacted on Inverness 250249 or at mp33.
