Hi there!
We’re still looking for adults with some experience of angling to get a fishing group going. Already we have bait rods, reels, floats and hooks.
Anglers who can help set up the group with the benefit of their experience are needed and this assistance would be on a paid basis.
The Friday afternoon self-defence group run by Bill Anderson at the Community Centre finished on 27th September, but hopefully we’ll be able to persuade him to come back soon as so many enjoyed the sessions. After the October school holidays Russell Deacon will be starting up Tai Chi sessions at the Centre. This is a Chinese discipline that develops physical control and is very relaxing.
Remember, we are open at mp33 Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 5pm except for an hour for lunch between 12.30 and 1pm. See you soon.

Back in July a group of young women attended a series of First Aid sessions organised by mp33 and held at the Community Centre. Recently they attended a lunch at mp33 and received their First Aid Certificates. “Thanks to all who turned up and congratulations to Kerry, Violet, Alison, Debbie and Kim who were all presented with their certificates,” said Roni Smith. “And congratulations also to Vicky and Carla who were unable to be present, but also gained their certificates.”

MEET Julie Ferguson - she’s going to be holding the fort temporarily at mp33 this month until a new staff appointment is made. Originally from Fort William, Julie now lives in Inverness. She says she enjoys temping because she is always meeting new people. But so popular is Julie, with her cheery smile, that she is often invited back whenever offices have a staff crisis.
A SEXUAL Health Awareness Day for 3rd Year pupils - aged around 13/14 years - was held at Inverness High School on 19th September. The event was organised by Community Schools nurse Morag Campbell and mp33 was among a number of agencies to take part. “It was an excellent day,” said mp33’s Roni Smith, “and I hope the young people got something out of it.”

Both the youth clubs - juniors on Mondays and seniors on Wednesdays - are up and running. They will be closed for the October holidays, and after the break there are going to be more craft activities at both clubs.

After the October break the Girls Group for 14 to 15 year olds is going to be starting up again with Cheryl and Kirsty. If a group of friends wants to start up their own group to get together one evening a week, get in touch. We hope to start up a similar group for boys too.

For those who fancy doing a bit of DIY around the house, but are not all that confident with power tools there is a series of sessions on Tuesday mornings with a free creche between 9.30am and 12.30pm. Sessions have already started and run until 5th November.
Already the group has visited Merkinch Tool Club at Craigton Avenue to see their wide range of tools. There is a trip to B&Q on 1st October to get familiar with the various tools and a visit to the Floral Hall on 29th October.
