Out of School
- Following a drop in the school roll, Merkinch Primary has lost a teacher and classes have been reorganised. Teachers will be taking classes as follows: Area A - P1 Mrs Sculthorpe, P2 Miss Kidd; Area B - P2/3 Miss Macleod, P3 Miss Birrell; Area C - P4 Mrs Moffat, P5 Miss Beaton; Area D - P6 Mrs Campbell, P6/7 Miss Dick, P7 Mr Kemp.
- Last session 11 pupils achieved a 100 per cent attendance rate - well done!
New house captains (vice-captains in brackets) for this year are as follows: Fleming - Donna Craigie (Amy Fraser), Kelvin - Scott Leckie (Nicole Turnbull), Telford - Gary Carrol (George Mitchell), Watt - Carole Berry (Ann Marie Stewart).
- Pupils in last year’s P2 were delighted to see the peas and broad beans they planted earlier in the season in the school garden had produced pods ready for eating. And P3/4 and P4 enjoyed picking, cooking and sampling their own home-grown broad beans. The garden club meets on Tuesday afternoons.
- Schools close for the October break on Friday 11th, reopening on Tuesdsay 29th.
- Inverness High pupils went on a sponsored walk on Friday 20th September. The money raised is to go towards supporting such activities as S1 Speyside trip, sports teams and theatre visits etc.
- Last month S2/3 pupils at IHS had a visit from the director of Lepra, Terry Vasey, and visitors from Brazil and India. Last year pupils raised nearly £100 for leprosy relief and the visitors came to thank the youngsters for their efforts.
