FLIPERZ UPDATE

September has been an extremely busy month for Fliperz, we now look after between 14 - 21 children on a regular daily basis - all proof that we are providing a quality service for parents. We said goodbye to staff member Dawn McGivern at the end of August and thank you for all the hard work and interest Dawn has shown in Fliperz over the past 2 years (although we hope she will continue to volunteer occasionally and keep in regular contact with staff and children). Dawn has been replaced by Jacqueline Thomson (another Merkincher), whom some of you may know from her long term voluntary work with Planefield Road Playgroup. Jacqueline is currently working toward her SVQ Level 2 in Childcare & Education, and hopes to progress on to Level 3 next year.

Fliperz also had a brief interview on Moray Firth Radio this month. We were lucky enough to be awarded £150 (one hundred and fifty pounds) from the M F R Charity Trust Appeal, with which we purchased a garden shed from the TAG unit at Craig Dunain. The shed is used to store all outdoor equipment etc and is necessary to complete our outdoor play area. Moray Firth Radio were conducting interviews with quite a few of the Charity Trust recipients, and not being shy about any form of free publicity, Fliperz accepted their offer of a short interview by Ken Kelman.

A trip to British Telecom is planned for the older children at the end of this month - see next month’s Fliperz page for an update.

Finally, we are currently taking bookings for full day care (8.30 am - 5.30 pm, Monday -Friday), during the October holiday period, and places are being filled as we write so don’t hesitate, call Kath today on 240 085 if you need childcare during school holidays.
