MTC2 - Official launch covered by television news crew

Tuesday 1st September saw MTC2 open with a bang. Located at No. 12 Grant Street (previously Cameron the Butcher’s shop).

As always, it is the remit of Merkinch Enterprise to re-invest any income generated back into the community, thus our very own Job & Information Centre, and our monthly community newsletter - the News & Views will both benefit through the success of MTC2, particularly when our original National Lottery Charities Board funding runs out in next year.

MTC2 has been set up to provide information technology training to businesses, organisations and individuals throughout the Highland area. Leading the way with the latest technology and software, MTC2 will revolutionise computer training in the North of Scotland. Already we have contracts to undertake training provision up until March 1999. Although our own MTC reputation as one of the north’s leading IT and market research companies has helped when advertising our courses, we must not forget the generous good publicity we received on the opening day. Thanks must go to all the local press, Inverness Courier, Highland News and also the Press & Journal who all covered the event in great detail, including photos in some cases. Radio coverage was provided by Moray Firth Radio’s own Ray Atkinson who not only covered the launch but also broadcast an excellent interview with Douglas Yule (acting chief executive of INE), and finally we also appeared briefly on North Tonight -the Grampian Television daily news programme. (A copy of this television appearance is available for viewing in the Job & Information Centre).

Merkinch Enterprise would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the setting up and opening of MTC2 , all staff and volunteers who either directly helped with decorating, hosting the opening event, etc or covered in the absence of others, all who attended the opening launch and wished us good luck, and all local press and media who covered the event. Thanks also go to INE who assisted with the setup costs of the centre.
