South Kessock Safety Project - Update

The South Kessock Safety project will be busy this Autumn, watching the success or otherwise of an innovative Traffic Calming scheme, piloted by the Scottish Office in South Kessock. Car users are reminded by signs on posts and on the road, to keep their speed to below 20 mph in the following streets: Kessock Avenue, Kessock Court North & South, Carnarc Crescent, Rosehaugh Road, Bridgeview Drive and Craigton Avenue. The co-operation of all residents and visitors to the area would be appreciated.

Likewise, the Project looks forward in November to the beginning of Phase 3 of their replacement Fencing Programme. Phases 1 & 2, which saw wooden fencing being replaced with new vandal proof green fencing, have proved a great success. Also on the agenda for this Autumn, is the multi-purpose pitch for young people in the West Field. This should be floodlit, with an all weather surface for football and basketball. This pitch has been long awaited by locals who will be pleased to know that even as we write, tenders are in for the building contract! Let’s hope there are no early, heavy snow falls!

The Project would also like to congratulate Merkinch Enterprise for their excellent web site design for young people, the Highland Source. South Kessock youngsters who write The Dolphin Magazine, regularly look up the site to see what’s new.
