MERKINCH COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING
At the Community Council meeting held at the Merkinch Primary School on Tuesday 24th August 1999, it was agreed that although the meeting was inquorate, those present would, however, work through the following agenda:
- Councillor Corbett contacted Railtrack regarding the condition of the railway banks. It was noted that they have now been cleaned up
- It was agreed that the proposed plans for a traffic calming system in Thornbush Road would be supported by the Community Council
- Inverness councillors have agreed to a by-law banning the consumption of alcohol in public places, however, it will have to be approved by Highland Council’s Policy and Resource Committee and the Scottish Executive
- The Merkinch Working Group have decided to take a back seat for the moment whilst the SIPS project gets under way. The Community Council members feel that the Working Party had a much wider remit than the SIPS project and would like to see it meeting at regular intervals. Councillor Corbett will look into it
- The grass and the wild flower seeds for Carnarc Point are required to be planted in late September and the Community Council are looking for volunteers to help out
It was noted that the volunteer ranger for the South Kessock project, Willie Vickers, is leaving the area. The sub-committee have made a presentation to Willie as a token of their appreciation for all the hard work that he put into the Carnarc Point Project.
