THE appeal being made by owner George Maclean against his licence for the Merkinch Arms being revoked (which happened in February following drugs allegations) was put back from 24th August and is now to be heard on 9th November.

A MEETING of those who live in Maclennan Crescent to discuss the formation of a residents' association was due to take place on 31st August at the Community Centre, after we went to press.

CELT Street Evangelical Church's Sunday Club has started up again. A minibus to collect those attending starts at Carnarc Crescent at 11.45am.

CONGRATULATIONS to Elizabeth and Andrew Green of Forbes Pharmacy, Grant Street, on the safe delivery of a bouncing baby boy, a little brother for Callum. To be named Mark, the baby weighed in at 7lbs 13ozs at Raigmore in the early hours of 17th August.

AND congratulations to John Lavender who hit the Big Four-Oh at the end of last month. John got to know a lot of people in the area through his role as Development Officer at Merkinch Enterprise and still carries out some training on their behalf.
