Isabel proves it's never too late to learn

ONE of Merkinch Community Training Centre's most senior students has gained a Certificate of Achievement after completing an intensive 10-week community training course in Information Technology (IT).

Isabel MacLennan, who lives in Cameron Square, successfully completed IT Applications I, which counts as a credit at HNC level. She also got a lot of credit with others on the course, for she mothered them all and always made the tea and coffee!

Isabel started coming to Merkinch Enterprise as a volunteer in 1994. After doing some basic IT training, the retired typist expressed an interest in keeping up with the latest technology.

Since 1995 when News & Views was launched Isabel has been a valuable member of the stalwart band of volunteers who help collate and deliver the newsletter to 2500 homes and businesses every month. Isabel is not the first senior student to accomplish the ITA I certificate at Merkinch Training Centre – she joins Clair Pieraccini who received the same award last year. Isabel is pictured above receiving her certificate from Colin Downie, Chief Executive of Merkinch Enterprise.

A wide range of IT courses, available to members of the Merkinch community, are funded by the European Social Fund and supported by Inverness & Nairn Enterprise and Merkinch Enterprise.
