Merkinch Community Centre football team has had a splendid season in the First Division of the Inverness Street League. Not only have they topped the League, but as we were going to press they were about to meet Nairn County in the First Division League Cup Final at Inverness Stadium. Then on Monday 25th they were due to play Stratton Thistle in a Cup semi-final. “There are some very good wee players this year,” said coach Vic (Tubby) Leslie. “Seven of them are going on to play for Ross County or Inverness Caley development teams - Mark Ridgers, Michael Finnis, Scott Fitzgerald, Grant Sloggie, Paul Cameron, Steven Coffey and Colin Williamson.
