IT’S ALL CALM FOR THE THORNBUSH ROAD AREA
The proposed new traffic calming system for the Thornbush Road area is likely to go ahead. The proposals, first brought to your attention in your July issue of News and Views, will include a series of islands installed in the middle of the road in order to help people crossing the busy thoroughfare, has been given the green light by the residents of the area. Angus MacInnes, Manager for the Roads and Transport Department said: "We have just completed the consultation survey. We have spoken to the people in the area who may be affected by the new proposals. We discussed the proposals and made it clear that we were willing to listen and alter the proposals in order to meet their problems. The overall response was very encouraging and positive. We have sent plans to the Community Council and we are just waiting for them to reply to us before it’s full steam ahead."
