The eagerly awaited new bar in Grant Street the Nip Inn is now open, so if you aren’t already a regular here’s something to whet your appetite. First of all there is a large screen TV, which will cover all the major sporting events, incidentally these include drink promotions. Mr.Thompson who also owns Blacksmiths, the Keg & Gunsmiths is appealing to any Merkinchers interested in starting or joining a Darts team, Domino team or Football team to drop in and leave your names at the bar.
It is standard practice for Mr. Thompson to install CCTV in all his establisments, he says, "It is a good way of convincing some people that trouble is simply not worth it, and any recordings can and will be used in convictions". Apart from sports promotions the Nip Inn is looking to include entertainment but it will wait to see what goes down well, so again nip in and give them your ideas. Much has been done on bar decor, including disabled access and there is a fine selection of popular draft and bottled beers.

Thursday & Friday 11am - 1am
Saturday 11am - 12 midnight
Sunday 12.30pm - 11pm

The regeneration of Grant Street has taken a while to come together, for some time there were as many shops lying empty as there were trading. Recently though, there has been a change in fortune with many new businesses coming into the area & many exisiting businesses having a face lift. There is a good feeling about the area and other companies must now be looking at Grant Street as a viable alternative to the Town Centre.
