Police at the Door

Police visit Fliperz

At 3.30pm the door bell rang, I opened the door and there stood not 1, not 2, but 3 policeman. Oh no, what’s happening at Fliperz, the children are all behaving and the staff are not too bad!

"Hello" said community Police Constable Ian Morrison "Is Norrie here, we’ve brought the police dogs".

Is this the new way to contact the Community Bobby!! Only kidding Norrie! First Sandy and Jim, from the police dog section, gave us a talk all about the dogs training, their abilities, skills and duties. We then met Rowan, a 10 month old Black Labrador who successfully found some hidden "drugs", followed by (4 year old) Barney the German Shepherd who very quickly caught and detained "the criminal" (better known as PC Donald). We saw how well controlled and obedient these clever and loveable dogs are. Lastly we met Ben an older Black Labrador. These dogs are used for drugs and explosive works, searching for missing people, stolen property and also crowd control. We had a great afternoon meeting the policemen and their special dogs. Thanks to you all from Fliperz.
